Adding 1” to cutdown shotgun barrel ?

A friend described this to me over the phone and it got me to thinking.
Someone didn’t know how to properly measure or cut down a shotgun barrel on a S&W 12ga pump. Ends up the barrel is 17.5ish.
So what would be the proper fix ? Weld or braze an extension onto the end and properly dress it up?

By the time your finished, it would probably be more effective just to purchase another barrel.

You could add a polychoke, but like DD said, cheaper to find another barrel.

Put a brake on it.

New barrel would be easiest. You could have it threaded for chokes and solder an extended Modified choke barrel to it. Possibly more expensive but you could end up with a better fightin’ scattergun when you’re done.

GB and ebay both have barrels for cheap. Easier and cheaper than going to a gunsmith.
