Proud dad! Julie got her first deer last night. A big spike with one spike broken off like a unicorn. She named it Uno because it was one shot, her first deer, and one horn. It was the first time she's ever shot at a deer and she sealed the deal. I'm sure we'll never forget our time in the deer stand together the last two years.
AR-15 in 6.5 Grendel
She was so excited before and after. She had buck fever so bad I had to brace her shoulder to try to steady her before she shot. So cute!
It's funny, in all our deer talk I've never made a big deal about how many points a deer has. It's just really not important to me. But it's the first question Julie asks about any buck. I told her it's not every day that you shoot a unicorn.
The video (I'm trying to get it to load) was taken not long after Julie got her first deer (and after a few minutes of hugs and high fives.) The volume is kind of low because we were trying to be quiet. She could hardly contain herself. We thought it was a doe.
We've already got a couple in the freezer so... Jerky time!!!
