My Dad was Navy in the Pacific , he hated the Japanese 'til the day he died. War is hell.

My father was in the air at the moment of surrender, flying a C-47 full of Army to secure local air fields. Lots of Thompsons.

Later flew out American POW’s. Affected him for the rest of his life. Could never forgive, or trust, and we never had anything anywhere in our home made in Japan.

After Pearl Harbor, Nimitz was personally sent by FDR to command in the Pacific and to not come home until he was in Tokyo Bay accepting Japan's surrender... He did just that.
