4473 delay

Just went to pick up a new pistol on friday from my LGS and when I finished the paperwork I was told I was delayed. Is this common? What is the typical wait time for something like this? How long can it be drawn out, and can I just go somewhere else and try again or will it be delayed as well?

In the past I've been delayed, but never more than 24 hours. IIRC, they can delay up to 72 hours at which point they have to either approve or deny you.

It happens, went twice in a row, no delay. The last time, they held it.
No real rhyme or reason, just whoever is reviewing your info.
Most I think they can put a hold on it is 7 days.
Going somewhere else would probably flag your info for sure.

Its been over 24 hours. Im guessing sunday does not count as one of those days? So I should hear something by close of business tuesday at the latest?

Might never hear anything at all. If they don't call the FFL back, look at the chart for what day you will be ok to get it.

Dont need one. Im exempt under O.C.G.A 16-11-130 and other than this inconvenience, I have no reason to spend more money.

So am I required to follow through with getting it? All they have is a filled out 4473 and a copy of my license. Lets say I found a better deal and didnt want it anymore, or just got tired of waiting and changed my mind.
