1911 colt 45 70 series blue. good cond.

Here is a 1980 Colt MkIV Series 70 Government Model that I bought a couple years ago. It is in like new condition. It came with the box and paperwork. I paid $900 for it then. Another like this, today, could run closer to $1000-$1100. An older model will add a little more to the value. Without the box and paperwork and in similar condition, about $900. Value will adjust accordingly for a pistol in worn conditions. With Colts, it is all about the year it was made, the model, finish, condition, the box (and condition of it), paperwork, and originality.

this was my grandaddy's pistol i have shot about two boxes of shells through it in the nine years that I have had it. and I never saw him shoot growing up. It shoots and works great. I cleaned and oiled it right before the picture.

That's a nice looking, well used Colt Commander ya got there! I'm sure some offer's will come your way today. Best of luck to you.

Edit...If I had a treasure like that passed down from my grandfather, I just couldn't part with it!

if it was my grandads i'd keep it. in its condition the value won't be that great. not knowing the year i'd guess around 700.

It's a shooter grade and for what's worth the value is highest with you. It's a part of your family history that will live on and can be passed on to the next generation. I'd not part with that pistol unless it went to another family member.

It is a beautiful Commander. It appears to be an early '70s model. the sooner I can get the SN info, the sooner I can get clarification. The pics do help with the assessing of condition. It appears to have good honest wear from over the years. I do not see any evidence of pitting or any gouges. Finish wise, I would rate it conservatively at about 85%. One of the magazines (two-tone one) is quite old. These were used quite a bit with USGI 1911s and 1911A1s. It is definitely a Colt I would love to put into my collection.
