I have got to ask why would you use 870 with slugs with a scoped rifle with you

Mostly because it was a close shot (inside 40 yards) and I've never shot a deer with a shotgun. I've killed one with every other type of firearm except a shotgun. Plus my idea was the slug would do more damage at the close range than a .30-06 because it would dump more energy into it since the bullet would still he building speed and would be a straight on shot so figured exit wound would be bigger and have better blood.

Just got settled in. It's nice down in this creek bottom tonight. Brought my 308 out for the first time this year. Last night of hunting after work this year. Stupid clock change. Good luck y'all.

Sitting on a food plot yearling at feeder when I got here they a lot of does here hopefully one of the big boys show up before dark the plot looks good not to have no rain
