Evening hunt in Meriwether was just sitting out in the heat enjoying not having to be at work. Heard 1 shot the entire time. Found fresh scrapes and jumped a small buck on the driveway checking a scrape. Planning on going back down tomorrow morning before the rain comes in. Looks like our area will be hit hard by the weather.
He'd have been a good one in a year or 2Bagged this 11pt beastie this morning.
Had this little starter-buck hanging around me for quite awhile. A few does and another 8 or 9-pointer was also close by. They were all keeping an eye on Mr. Big just down the creek bottom, but he wouldn't come back up to me. I had Mr. Big at 23 yards for about 2 minutes, but he was sniffing after a mature doe and wouldn't give me any kind of a shot. Dang it! Oh well, next time.
