That fact, among much of most of the rest of many articles is just needless folderol that detracts from the attention getting headlines and TV chyrons....

Personally, I'd like to see ALL news printed or shown in CURSIVE so that the idiot masses out there in this broad land can't be so easily dumbed-down.

True...but even with a proper non-urban dictionary, journalists today wouldn't know their butt from a hole in the ground.....most of them have never even heard of grammar, sentence structure, linear context...... I fully expect the day when broadcast news consists of nothing but fricking Emojis....
