I've seen this piece in person and I felt like Indiana Jones when I fondled it. BTW Don't mean to hijack this thread but every time I open it up, I can't but help think of this ridiculous song. LMAO!!!

I used a dremel and chopped my front sight. Cleaned it up with a bench grinder and used cold blue to seal it up. Turned out pretty nice. I decided to re use the front sight because of the issues i read about the low pro gas blocks coming loose. The only low profile gas block I would use is the...
I've got a 17 and the Cerakote is flaking off, I 'm gonna call them and see how much it will cost to refinish. If they charge more than $45 I will let ya'll know.
Rgr that Outsydlooknin. I will probably move it back 2 rows. I want to leave the edge of the mount over the bridge to keep the FF tube lined up. The rail twists onto the barrel nut and the allen bolts tighten the clamp. I tightened the crap out of the bolts but I am a little worried that over...
Well I just finished today. I didn't take pics of the mod because camera battery was dead. Oh well. This was not that hard of a task, however it was very tedious. The hardest part was getting the pins out of the FSB. The Dremel tool worked great at chopping the FSB. I used my bench grinder to...
I was gonna pull the FSB off and chop it on the vice. Thanks for the heads up on the pins. I'm gonna give it a shot. If it's an epic fail, I'll just get the DD gas block. I can't wait to see this rail in person. I think its gonna look sick. If everything goes smooth, I will post some pics and do...
I have looked at low profile gas blocks and I'm not to impressed with them using set screws to tighten to the barrel. It would be my luck after about a 1000 rounds down range the gas block would come loose or move. The ones that are pinned are about $70. I figure I could use the existing...
So I am getting my stuff together to do a mod on my AR upper receiver. I plan on chopping the A2 front sight wedge/ gas block and putting a 13" FF/ tube. Anyone else do this or have any advice, or tips? I have a zip wheel/ cutter, Dremel tool and bought some cold blue to coat the sight...
I would have John Harrison look at it too. For something like this he might have time to fix you up pretty quick. I know he is busy as hell, last time I spoke to him he was back logged on builds going back two years. He operates out of Acworth.
Have you tried tried using different mags? Are there any witness marks on the mags you are using, that might indicate were problem is. I have a Browning Hi-Power that did this when I used Pachmayr grips. I put the original grips back on and the problem went away. I know its not the same gun...
