Fishing off the bank
Hard Labor Creek Reservoir is pretty close. It's new. I know they stocked it with lots of different fish when they were building it. Lake Varner used to be a great place. I haven't fished it for quite some time but it was great bass fishing and also crappie. -

White Chimney river is across the street from my house. We haven't had any of the rain that N Ga has been getting this week. Sunny, dry, and warm. We have been catching speckled trout and redfish across the street using live shrimp. It's right in the bend of the river and it's a nice deep hole... -
Talk to me about FISHING ROD/REELs
The Ugly Stik combos they sell at Academy are decent for freshwater. The rods are good and the reels are nice and smooth. They don't last at all in saltwater but should do you right using it in only freshwater. -
UPDATE Thinking about buying a used boat.
I was boat shopping last year for a Carolina Skiff. They are very popular down here on the coast. It was ridiculous what folks wanted for the used boats. I finally found a 2017 JVX 18 skiff that was new and didn't even have the motor mounted yet. Got a good deal on it and I've never look back... -

I have that mounted on my 18' Carolina Skiff. I love the "spot lock" feature. No anchor needed. Hard Labor Creek Reservoir is now open for fishing. They do charge a parking fee. Take 2 batteries if you can. It's brand new and just filled up this year. They stocked a bunch of fish. It should be great in a few years. There's info online. That's in Walton County. Lake Varner is also good... -
