  1. Dream fishing trips

I'm in Shellman Bluff. 30-45 minutes north of Jekyll.
  2. Dream fishing trips

I live on the coast and can catch sharks all summer. I've yet to tie into a tarpon. I'm going to try this summer. Fall down here is giant redfish heaven. I went to Costa Rica with buddies some years back to catch Sailfish. As luck would have it there was a red tide and no fish of any sort. I'd...
  3. Ft. McAllister/Ogeechee fishing info needed please.

Trout and Redfish should be good. If you can make it out to the sound and know how to throw a cast net the white shrimp should be in.
  4. Been Hooked?

When I was stationed in Mayport FL in the mid 80's I lived off base at some apartments in Jax. The buildings surrounded a lake. There was some pretty good fishing and a ton of shiners. I fished a lot. I guess the kids in the complex knew that. The kids came banging on my sliding glass door one...
  5. Fishing off the bank

Hard Labor Creek Reservoir is pretty close. It's new. I know they stocked it with lots of different fish when they were building it. Lake Varner used to be a great place. I haven't fished it for quite some time but it was great bass fishing and also crappie.
  6. 2000 Carolina Skiff

Probably have to fabricate the grab handle. UPD would be your best bet. https://www.updplastics.com/windshield-manufacturers/carolina-skiff-boat-windshields/
  7. good trout lures for chattahoochee?

We would regularly put in float tubes at the dam and float to Hwy 20 bridge. When they rebuilt the bridge they took out where we used to park. Last few times we floated to Settles Bridge. My go to bait has always been silver 1/6 oz Little Cleo. We have always done real well with that. Better...
  8. went fishing today

White Chimney river is across the street from my house. We haven't had any of the rain that N Ga has been getting this week. Sunny, dry, and warm. We have been catching speckled trout and redfish across the street using live shrimp. It's right in the bend of the river and it's a nice deep hole...
  9. Talk to me about FISHING ROD/REELs

The Ugly Stik combos they sell at Academy are decent for freshwater. The rods are good and the reels are nice and smooth. They don't last at all in saltwater but should do you right using it in only freshwater.
  10. UPDATE Thinking about buying a used boat.

I was boat shopping last year for a Carolina Skiff. They are very popular down here on the coast. It was ridiculous what folks wanted for the used boats. I finally found a 2017 JVX 18 skiff that was new and didn't even have the motor mounted yet. Got a good deal on it and I've never look back...
  11. Pics of set ups and lures...where did you catch those fish?

I have that mounted on my 18' Carolina Skiff. I love the "spot lock" feature. No anchor needed. I was using it this weekend and with a steady south wind of 10-15 mph and the tide ripping out at full speed in the same direction and it would hold the boat exactly where I wanted it. I love it. Kind...
  12. **The official your boat picture thread**

Got to love those 4 strokes. Mine is so quiet I have to check the water stream to see if it's running. And it sips the gas.
  13. **The official your boat picture thread**

2017 Carolina Skiff JVX 18. 70hp Suzuki 4 stroke. I added a Minn Kota 80lb thrust trolling motor with I-Pilot. I bought and installed the T-top this past Sept. It's a great boat for fishing the coastal waters down here. The trolling motor was expensive but it's great. You steer with a small...
  14. Power Pro braid on sale at Bass Pro

I posted this on steals and deals forum but figured it would be good to post here. Bass Pro has Power Pro on sale for 50% off. I love this line and it's a killer price. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/powerpro-braided-spectra-fiber-microfilament-line-150-yards
  15. Breaking Into Cars At Boat Ramps On Lake Lanier

This has always happened. Growing up in the 70's we had the van broken in to several times. We used to camp at what was called Chesnut Ridge. On the water spots were at a premium so we went up a day earlier and set up the family tent. We got there Friday afternoon and someone had stolen EVERYTHING.
  16. Fishermen - Need To Stock My Pond

You can go to the fisheries office and get fish. They're located near Social Circle. Here is a link. https://georgiawildlife.com/pond-management
  17. THREAD FOR POSTING PICTURES OF FISH CAUGHT

Yes. I am a sushi guy. We had some Sunday night after we got back in. We had raw, blackened, fried, and Cajun style. I had a nice Wahoo steak last night marinated in some Mojo and dusted with garlic herb then grilled. It's a tasty fish.
  18. THREAD FOR POSTING PICTURES OF FISH CAUGHT

Went down to Venice La to go offshore. We were hoping for some of the big Yellowfin Tuna that are running this time of year. Came up empty on tuna but first fish of the day was this 70 lb Wahoo. Fun to catch and some mighty fine eating.
  19. Recommend me some new places!

Hard Labor Creek Reservoir is now open for fishing. They do charge a parking fee. Take 2 batteries if you can. It's brand new and just filled up this year. They stocked a bunch of fish. It should be great in a few years. There's info online. That's in Walton County. Lake Varner is also good...
  20. hooche below Lanier Dam to Roswell

We would get some decent ones in the deeper holes. Slow the retrieve down and let the spoon sink. We tried different colors but always went back to the silver Little Cleo. Some days you lose half a dozen due to snags. Some days you lose none but you only have to carry one type. A couple of years...
