Got ya! Well in your case that makes perfect sense. These salt guys like to fish with fluorocarbon leaders for some reason. I've seen too many of them break to suit me. Good fishing to you
Also meant to say I really don't have "breaks" but do have larger reds run me over oyster rakes which really cuts the line, not much you can do about that.
I must say I don't get the leader thing. I use 20lbs power pro braid and tie jig heads and lures directly to the braid. Very seldom do I have breaks. If I splice line as in putting mono on before braid on my reels to stop spool slips I use the double uni knot. Of course to each his own, I just...
Won't be long before the salt starts picking up here in Ga. Water temp still a little chilly 58* Sheepshead are biting pretty good. Spot tails and Speckled trout in the deeper water 12-20 ft. Won't be long before they start moving into the shallows and flats! Good fishing to everyone. JT
Well not that you guys need any advise, and everyone has their favorite bait but I do declare I catch a lot of bass on the KVD 1.5 square bill "natural shad" color. I run the Sav, Ogeechee and Altamaha rivers when not in the salt so you may want to give it a try. But looks like he could tell me...
Thursday and Friday turned out to be good fishing in the salt SE Ga. Still a lot of small trout in the mix but fun none the less. Did boat a few nice ones. 23 inch trout 3.7 lbs and a 28 1/2 inch spot tail. Get off the couch and get in the boat.
Sorry a little late to the party on this but just FYI for anyone coming to the Savannah Ga area. I scuba dived off of Sav for years spear fishing at the snapper banks as well as inshore wrecks. I can tell you the best charter Captain in Savannah is Steve Amick with Judy Helmey running a very...
OK I'm not sure your point applies to me. You took something out of context somewhere and accused me of "criticizing everyone that doesn't catch and release." I merely pointed out the fact the man caught and removed a 9-10 lbs bass and quickly followed that up with, " his catch, his decision."...
Hey Zesty, thanks for your input. It's not a public managed lake, it's private. Very few get access to this 90 acre lake. The angler in question and his family are no longer allowed. The owner found out about the catch and removal and is beyond livid. They pride themselves on the monster bass...
