  1. Back before the Internet, Cell Phones, Social Media.......

And dont forget the simple wonder of flying a kite with a 2000 ft roll of fishing line, I needed binoculars to see it once it got up there.
  2. Type 1 Diabetes Pump Users

My Mom has used a pump for probably twenty years, so I am familiar with the routine. I do see the benefits, but not having something tied to me is more liberating than all the manual actions I take to maintain my sugars.
  3. Type 1 Diabetes Pump Users

I guess I dont trust a machine and like to micro-manage, I use a combination of Novolin-R, Humalog, and Levmir pen and needle injection. My A1C was 6.3 last month, and normally ranges from 5.9 to 6.5. I know you are asking about different style pumps, but Levmir is a great tool for elliminating...

I believe anything below 3x it will show up
  6. Somebody explain this to me. I never took physcis.....

Light is a wave while in transit, so if focused beyond the obstruction, it does not block your view since light can "bend" around it.
  7. Somebody explain this to me. I never took physcis.....

Out of focus at that distance. If you viewed a bright point of light and adjusted it out of focus enough you would see the shadow of the sight. This is a similar principle seen in reflecting telescopes that use a secondary mirror placed in the light path of the primary mirror. Here is an example...
  8. Space Geeks Unite! ** LIVE Starship SN8 Launch ** 12/8

Even when a Space-X rocket blows up, its still awesome.
  9. Not Seen for 800 Years . . .

A pair of binoculars will resolve the separation between them and Jupiter's moons, so a modest telescope should do at least that.
  10. Not Seen for 800 Years . . .

I might try. Ironically the planets, which are relatively close, are much harder to image than something thousands or millions of light years away.
  11. Not Seen for 800 Years . . .

By the way, to the unaided eye they will appear as a single bright light in the sky, but through a telescope they will maintain a good deal of seperation. As they would appear around sunset on 12/21
  12. Not Seen for 800 Years . . .

Not to mention the medieval grade omen of Comet Neowise this summer that wont return for another 6,000+ years.
  13. Georgia exodus?

It wont spread south of Macon, because of gnats and skeeters, just sayin.
  14. This is embedded into rock

Considering where it is they probably didnt intend for it to be found anytime soon.
  15. This is embedded into rock

Watched the video again, concrete saw was definitely involved, you can see the overcuts on the corner near the end of the video.
  16. This is embedded into rock

Looks like the panel facing the camera has screws along the edges, so Im guessing it isnt "solid". Prefabbed panels that are screwed together and a concrete saw could pull this off. It would be a lot more interesting if solid and embedded deep in the rock.
  17. I get so caught up in all the turmoil we create ourselves...

I provided an explanation for the lack of stars from a photographer's standpoint above. Also, it would actually have been quite easy to insert a beautiful star filled background including the Milky Way in any photos from the moon. Most widefield landscape astrophotos are actually two seperate...
  18. I get so caught up in all the turmoil we create ourselves...

As an astrophotographer, I can relate to why there are no stars in the background. When I shoot a full moon, no stars will appear in the shot with it. This is beacuse the moon is extremely bright, thus requiring a short exposure time to prevent over exposing it. This exposure time is much to...
  19. I get so caught up in all the turmoil we create ourselves...

I watched the Space-X launch with my own eyes from my backyard Sunday night, no HD video needed.
  20. Georgia exodus?

Been on the same piece of dirt my whole life. I wouldnt be opposed to moving if circumstances required it. That being said, I also realize moving to somewhere that seems better will not guarantee bliss over the long term. I personally would prefer to live away from people somewhere in Arizona or...
