  1. When listing an AR on ODT, why would you list it as a M16?

Is it "unfired" if I dry-fired it 1,000 times?
  2. When listing an AR on ODT, why would you list it as a M16?

I don’t know what I’m supposed to shoot unless the interwebs tell me!
  3. When listing an AR on ODT, why would you list it as a M16?

I do believe that was a joked, framed in sarcasm, loosely based on infamous advice from Biden.
  4. When listing an AR on ODT, why would you list it as a M16?

I'm a huge fan of clear communication. If a customer walks into the shop, and says, "Y'all got 30rd clips for my AR?", I know exactly what he's looking for.
  5. When listing an AR on ODT, why would you list it as a M16?

One can argue, with merit, that the "M16" in Post #1 is still just an "M16 clone".....albeit, a much cooler, more expensive, and more accurate clone than most. Part of the definition of the M16 / M16A1 / M16A2 / M16A4 is that they are a service rifle. The definition of a service rifle is, "The...
  6. When listing an AR on ODT, why would you list it as a M16?

You were literally 3 seconds ahead of me.
  7. When listing an AR on ODT, why would you list it as a M16?

This. While we're at it, let's fire up the ol' "it's a magazine not a clip" boomer meltdown.
  8. When listing an AR on ODT, why would you list it as a M16?

One could argue, with merit, that a select-fire copy of the M16 / M16A1 / That ain't what I said. You are arguing with 3 FFL holders as to what firearms models are legally labeled and called. As in, when the ATF audits our paperwork, what HAS to be on our paperwork. SMGDMFH
  9. When listing an AR on ODT, why would you list it as a M16?

You and the ATF do not agree on this. If the receiver is marked “M16A4”, then it is an M16A4. Full stop. Period. No additional “Clone” or “Faux” to be added, as that would be incorrect.
  10. When listing an AR on ODT, why would you list it as a M16?

If the model on the receiver is “M16”, how is it a clone?
  11. When listing an AR on ODT, why would you list it as a M16?

There are several companies nowadays that cater to the retro build market. I’ve seen lowers whose models are marked as “M16”, “M16A1”, and other variants. Someone would not be incorrect if they listed this lower as an “M16A1”.
  12. When listing an AR on ODT, why would you list it as a M16?

Folks cannot necessarily call it whatever they want in a listing on the ODT. For instance, listing a home-build on an SCT Mfg frame as a “Glock 19 Gen 3” is a no-go. Anyone reading that would naturally take that to mean it’s a Gen-u-wine Gee-lock. We’re fine with “Glock 19 Gen 3 clone”, or...
  13. When listing an AR on ODT, why would you list it as a M16?

You’re welcome to, but I can’t say that the Staff would consider “M16” as a misleading title. It means different things to different folks. Next thing would be having to edit listings for “Glock clips”. If it were a select-fire, it would have an “NFA” or “Class III” tag attached. What I...
  14. When listing an AR on ODT, why would you list it as a M16?

I correct those when I see them, or when they’re brought to our attention. That would be a misleading title, and against the Rules.

The thread "Not open for further responses" is "Not open for further replies".
  16. “Not open for further responses”

If I listed EVERY ODT member that is a Master of SOMETHING, I'd still be typing!
  17. “Not open for further responses”

Your every reply just proves me right. Just keep digging that hole, instead of proving me wrong.
  18. “Not open for further responses”

I "wrote a whole essay" here because it's part of my job. This is the sort of thing that I was brought onboard to do. It's what is EXPECTED of me. This response is also part of my job here. Contributing to the knowledge base of the forum is also a reason that I was brought onboard. I also...
  19. “Not open for further responses”

It's easy to intentionally get banned, warned, or threads deleted. So much so that I have to wonder about folks that brag about it, or consider it a badge of honor. For the most part, it leads me to believe those are folks that have never actually done anything in their life. If THAT is what...
