I have found I can shoot right-shouldered with a slightly raised optic or scope. But it depends on the shoulder stock. I like a wire slide-out stock - I have a MechTech CCU, for 1911 (but they make Glock too). I don't know how well...
Well, I prefer plain irons too, but I put a rail on mine because I can no longer shoot right-handed without raised sights/optic/scope. But it can be removed.
However, I never shoot it anymore - 30/30 is still insane!

The trick (to disassembling the forearm) is that there are two screws.
One is obvious, and one is hidden. There is a round pillar that the barrel sits on. I thought it maybe had a cap, but it's solid. The whole pillar is a plug that pulls out. The second screw is below...
