HMMM? Think of them as stock -- are any dropping in price or losing value? I am guessing they are increasing faster than anything you can buy. Plus - great trade potential if SHTF assuming you can add ammo.
My first rifle was an AR kit from them. I enjoyed putting it together and I don't shoot enough to be able to tell you how a DD is better. I have thought about adding another using one of the kits with CHF barrels but the reviews just seem lower than what they were. Canted sights, tool marks...
What @BLIP said. My first AR ( and only so far) was a kit from Palmetto State. When S&W and Ruger were less than $500 then it was cheaper to buy them but not now.
I stopped by Classic Firearms in Macon on a return trip from the coast. I thought they were the guys with the website -- they are not and were pissed I confused them with the one in NC. They said they had no web presence at the time. The store was located in a strip mall just off I-75.
Where are these cheap AK's everyone is predicting? The first 4 WASRs that pop up with a search are $850 and up. Price collapsing means under $500 to me possibly with ammo to sell at 20 cents a round. I am guessing unless an owner was flipping an AK they will just move it to the back of the safe...
Dang - I was waiting for one small delivery to arrive before I ordered a case of SKS food. However, I still want one of those VZ2008 with the 5 mags and pouch the PSA used to sell so maybe I can find a pre-covid price one!!
You might want to investigate field stripping the models you are interested in. I got a good deal on a Kimber but it requires a spring retaining tool (small bent wire) to disassemble. I have gotten used to it but I wish I knew about it before I purchased it.
