Where you plan on driving to? I personally will avoid the roads if anything like that were to happen. Hopefully you have what you may need at home for the long haul.

I have been a Amsoil and Mobil 1 user for decades. Even on my engines with higher mileage I get better oil pressure with synthetic oils. Filter choice is also important.
Honda Hawk GT650, but you probably won't be tinkering with it much, it's a Honda. Tinker? How about a mid 80's Guzzi, little tinkering and lots of riding.
Mine went out on my 1996 Suburban at 240k, had it rebuilt in Blue Ridge for 1600, still running strong. I would avoid AAMCO, like someone else said, find a local tranny guy and let him rebuild it with enhanced parts. Oh geez, I said tranny.
