Yeah, in retrospect. I left the house that day and noticed ever time I accelerated there was a pop. Guess it was the ball popping in and out of the cup. I thought cv bearings till that happened. When i pulled them the balls were worn down to about 1/2 what they should be.

The ball joint itself is easy to replace. Disassemble hub, press out, press in new, reassemble. If we were close I'd say hit AutoZone and stop and get a six and head over.
But get it fixed now before it wears out, that $15 ball joint cost me around $400 doing the work...
