I doubt they would allow chrono setup. Barrel mount maybe.
They host a mix of strangers. No way to know their level of competence - who’s gonna shoot their chrono or go over the berm.
I found their monthly HP / silhouette to be really helpful for anyone new to midrange shooting. HP is paper targets and you have to work pit duty. I still look forward to third Saturday of the month. Bring $15, 50 rounds, your favorite rifle, pack some patience and common sense. Be on time...
If you’re shopping for dies, you may need to use a Small Base die to get the autoloader cycle properly.
168, 175 smk are popular in that rifle.
If you have no brass consider buying Federal GMM. It’s going for $1.00/round online and you’ll have some known brass to load.
I would want to know what...
Assuming you want a load like Federal Gold Medal Match...
Materials run about 60 cents a round if you’re reusing brass. I’m sure you can do better buying bulk qty and cheap components.
What rifle are you loading?
What’s most important - accuracy, speed or cost?
Many are happy with speed of RCBS charge master. 250-350
Better accuracy digitals cost more than most will pay. 750-850
My preference is accuracy and speed. A&D 120i with AutoTrickler v2 has worked well for me.
Best? Depends on what type of reloading you do. Hunting, match, caliber, shotgun?
Get your powder and primer locally and avoid hazmat fees.
Try outdoor depot in Gainesville for powder & primers.
Another place is PNR Ammo - I haven’t been there yet but just learned about them recently...
Everyone I asked and every thing I read recomended a single stage press to learn Precision loading.
I added quick change bushings to my dies to make switching a no brainer.
If your goal is to save cost it’s difficult with current ammo prices. Of course that could change with political winds. Price goes up faster than it falls.
However if the goal is to produce better ammo for your rifles then reloading makes good sense.
Now to your question. A single stage will...
Ok, I bought this setup and have finally gotten to the point where I can give some feedback.
I bought the scale and v2 trickler as a package. It came preprogrammed, so I didn't have to worry about that.
I had a bit of a learning curve, but now can produce loads about one a minute. I am still...
Here's another angle picture of this thing. As you can see it is teardrop shaped. I had hoped to use it with one of my scales but it's too heavy without any pellets.
This is too heavy for any of my beam scales D5, M5, and Ohaus 10-0-5. It came with a scale I picked up at a club sale. Will gladly trade it for a hanger compatible with any of the above.
This is now my first choice. There's a great review about this setup on the hide.
I'll need to sell a rifle to afford it though. I may just pickup the scale and add on the V2 trickler later when I can afford it.
Not for competition, but for pride. Paper 100-600 yd .308
Yeah this is probably the most practical solution. I've read that different kinds of powders vary in accuracy. I'm using IMR-4064 which is extruded. Any chance you're using something similar?
I just picked up another rifle and am ready...
