  1. Burning

Just call the Ga Forestry commission for the burn permits. After 15 years I have never been denied a burn permit number. Of course, I didn’t call them when the wind was 15 miles an hour.
  2. Burning

Ridiculous. The smoke was going up and There was a gentle wind that was dispersing the smoke. Just like it’s supposed to do. What county?
  3. Burning

Burning is great when done correctly. I have several stands that I burn on a three year schedule. So every year I burn two or three stands. Some are only three acres+ and go up to about 15 acres. All natural timber.
  4. Do you know what this is?

Citrus trifoliata (hardy orange). Another invasive species from Asia None edible.
  5. Food plots

Been in the woods all my life and only remember seeing one scarlet king. I keep our pine stands on a three year burn rotation. Sometimes four years, depending on weather. Keeps them looking great. Have a small covey of quail every year or two, but can’t consistently keep them.

I asked him to step away from his son and I tried to speak softly so the son could not hear. The dad finally got the message...

Tree b ded. Cambium layer destroyed
  8. (video)How to Smoke a whole Canada goose

I used them the bait my trot lines. Stayed on the hook real good.
  9. With winter returning this week...

White oak acorns mature in one growing season. Red oak acorns mature in two growing seasons.
  10. Fox squirrel

I also give them a pass. They are scarce in some areas and common in others. They prefer open forested areas with a sparse canopy. If you keep the stands burned off, it will help attract them.
  11. Dumb question...

breast them and cut thumb sized chunks for catfish bait. I bet that would work good. It would probably stay on the hook real good.
  12. Burning property

It will green up fairly fast and next year it will look great. Turkeys love fresh burns also. I try to burn a third of my property every year. It is one of the best game and timber management tools there is. Once you get the fire lanes established, it's fairly easy.
  13. A first for me!

i let fox squirrels go. They are fairly uncommon and have localized populations. They do make a good mount, though.
