Oil lanterns...everbody should have a few.
I have a few railroad (red) lanterns. They are Chinese and cheap, but work on Kerosene and I've used them a few times. -

Quonset Hut Home
Every base I've been on has had Quonset huts. The Houston County BOE even has a few. I like them and would live in one without issue. The ones I've been in have ranged from decent insulation and damp/musty to blown modern insulation that were bone dry and completely climate unaffected. -

Yes, yes he was. He said to heck with everything and did his own thing up in AK. I have the "Alone in the Wilderness" DVD. It is great. There is a lot more footage of him other than the PBS stuff though. He was great. -

I have made fire!
Dryer lint burns like oily rags. GREAT firestarter. Cotton balls with Vaseline too. I have started fires with bow and drill, Magnifying glass, 2 "D" cell batteries with 3 bread ties on opposite ends (this will burn your fingers too if you hold the wires), and the Magnesium fire starting block...
