Lets hear it, what was the first NFA item you got to try/experience? This should be interesting as there are many options in this category.

Non service or LE agency related?

I visited a very nice gentleman in between Macon and Milledgeville who had a stunning collection that we were allowed to pick from and shoot.

M14, AK47, M16, Sten, Sturmgewehr 44, MP40, BAR, two Thompsons, MAG58, M3A3 Greasegun (Guidelamp Div)....all in the same afternoon. I actually had more fun talking with him (he was a character) than I did shooting. He had to leave for a family gathering and told us to just put the guns away in his safe room and lock up when we were finished shooting. Those types of fellows are real rare.

Hopefully you'll take his place and invite us down to shoot. Then celebrate with lunch/dinner at Mama Louise's!!

Had an older friend who allowed me to play with his collection. The MP40 can't be compared to other SMG's. It operates so smoothly that after running it and picking up one of a myriad others, there is just no contest! His was an early production and the workmanship was top shelf.

30 years ago full autos were a lot more affordable and commonly-traded. It seemed that in the Class 3 community it was suppressors & MG's / SMG's that dominated the registrations.
Hardly anybody was interested in short barrel rifles or shotguns,
or AOW's or destructive devices.

I love the MP-40. Great piece of German engineering.
