Had to be Johnny on the spot for the dang primers though. Got an email saying in stock and jumped on it.

Can't wait to start reloading.

When I first saw this, I thought "IMR 4227?", but it looks like you made some great component choices. You can get some decent velocities out of 4227. I wouldn't have thought to use that (preferring 296, but acknowledging COVID shortages), so I learned something today....

Yes Sir. It was my go to years ago for 44 magnum. I'm surprised I still remembered the powder since I haven't reloaded since 1995.

I haven't tried 296 yet. When I get my new manuals I will start experimenting again for sure.

After conducting a little research that this post prompted me to do, I really want to find some Hodgdon Lil Gun powder.... That stuff will push a 240 grainer over 150 fps faster than 4227 and over 100 fps faster than H110 (another of my "go-to" powders for big bores).
