Position Description: Maintenance Mechanic / Technician

The primary purpose of a Maintenance Technician is to maintain conditions of operating equipment. Secondary tasks include the repair or replacement of failed components, the ability to troubleshoot unknown issues with equipment, and make adjustments to centerline operational output of assigned equipment. As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for all P.M.’s on various manufacturing and packaging equipment (electrical components including motor starters, switches and sensors found on all assigned equipment using basic test equipment such as multi-meters, amp probes, basic hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical drive systems at the component level on all assigned equipment including packaging, conveying, processing, facilities equipment, etc.) as well as documentation of work status in the plant’s computerized maintenance management system. You will not be responsible for high-level electrical work, but should be able to assist in identifying electrical issues. You will troubleshoot and repair equipment using basic test equipment to aid in diagnostics. The maintenance technician will always strive to find ways to improve maintenance support and efficiency and will participate in analysis and recommendation for improvements. In addition to performing maintenance, you will support the operations team with changeovers, new user training, etc.

Requirements

Minimum of two years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment or in the military. You will need to have a fundamental understanding of schematics and be able to use them to aid in troubleshooting solve problems in a timely manner. This role requires a strong Mechanical aptitude (close tolerances, high-speed equipment, timing, stroke, etc) with a basic electrical aptitude (multimeter, etc). You will be required to operate in confined spaces at times.

Travel: Minimal if any

Salary: $23-27 per hour

Shift: Multiple

Keys to Success

You must clearly demonstrate your technical experience and background with respect to mechanical troubleshooting. The position requires a strong emphasis on timing and high speed equipment that must be adjusted within close tolerances. You should be ready to answer technical questions, describe ways that you would troubleshoot a simple to a complex problem, and discuss ways to solve technical issues. You should clearly demonstrate your ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.

You will be given a hands-on mechanical / timing assessment, details a picture of the device used are below. The process identifies skills such as troubleshooting ability, spatial perception, quality differentiation, hand-eye coordination, qualitative and quantitative reasoning ability, the understanding of different mechanical components, and the understanding of mechanical Stroke, Timing, and Position.

Additional Information

Wrigley employs a continuous improvement program known as Total Productive Maintenance (TPM). TPM brings maintenance into focus as a necessary and vitally important part of the business. It is no longer regarded as a non-profit activity. Down time for maintenance is scheduled as a part of the manufacturing day and, in some cases, as an integral part of the manufacturing process. The goal is to hold emergency and unscheduled maintenance to a minimum.
