I agree but sadly, bureaucracies are way too entrenched with career crimin.....administrators and clerks for this to ever go away. Americans won't have the stomach to do what is necessary to reset anything.

I agree, mostly. But it will be a more socialist communism with a VERY heavy anti-white pogrom aspect. I won't be alive then but I fully expect that the worst sort of human you could be is an older white male - even to the point of being confined for re-education or just plain recycling... Don't think you understand what's involved in making custom microchips. It certainly isn't something that can be done in a plant that normally builds cars. Producing chips is a specialty that is done in very expensive plants and takes a lot of expertise.

Last year, carmakers saw demand tank and cancelled their orders for chips. Now that demand is coming back, they need those chips. But they can't just place an order and get them the next day. It takes months to get back in the pipeline and get those chips.

Yeah, these shortages are BS, but it's the fault of all the bozos who decided we should shut down the world economy.

If there is no company in America that can currently mass produce these specialty chips, why doesn't the dumb president ask our friendly ally Japan; to pause making all of the Sony Playstation and Nintendo microchips?

There are companies in the U.S. that can produce them. Same problem remains. Orders were cancelled, plants were shut down, and that can't be undone overnight.

Yeah. a lot of people just have no concept of the lead time for things to be built / manufactured , especially high volume involving hundreds of thousands of units.

We install and operate systems that decontaminate the soil and water around leaky underground fuel tanks,
And vapor recovery systems to pull the fumes out of the soil.

Covid has totally wrecked the supply chain for everything.
The lead time for the pumps and stuff we use went from its usual 2-3 weeks to 6-9 months, or more .
One I needed was just a standard Gould’s irrigation pump that was mounted outdoors , so it didn’t even need to be explosion proof motor or anything , and Gould’s had none in their warehouse chain at all.
none, And didn’t know when they would start manufacturing them again. And this was a pump that any big hardware store in Valdosta or somewhere would normally have several sitting on the shelf, cause I bought them there before.
