The original question from the OP was why do you prepare?

I prepare because of people. History has shown that every civilization will eventually destroy itself. Even flourishing prosperous civilizations will degrade into lawlessness and civil unrest. Our greatest threat is not the environment global warming, aliens or foreign countries. Our greatest single threat is what it has always been mankind and it’s tendency to corrupt and destroy. In America today we call these people Democrat’s and Socialists and they will eventually destroy what we know as America.

I hope to have enough resources to provide for my family and my neighbors when the reaper comes.

My fears, massive electric grid failure or currency collapse.
Got the usual stocked, enough for a month or two.

Sorry I didn't read all responses yet, In my crazy conspiracy theory the democrats and the media would be trying to steal an election and get rid of one of the best Presidents in my live time. All while coveringup the atrocities committed in Bengazi Libya, billions of dollars of insider trading, the devaluation of the US dollar and an end run toward socialism. And worst of all reportedly almost half the country believes them and half of the millennial generation thinks socialism is a good idea......why I am not prepping any more, I am working on being as independent of the supply chain as possible, "community organizing"- for life now and after.

This and interruption of water and natural gas service. Got to have water and heat. I could survive without power, but I'd rather not. I store water and have alternative power and heat sources, as well as other supplies that would be needed in SHTF scenario.
