What have you reloaded today?

April of 2017 is when I last reloaded according to my load data. I picked up today where I left off. I had processed and primed a bunch of .223. Today I dropped powder and seated bullets!! I had only been reloading for a couple of years before I stopped, so it took me a while to get comfortable again, but I’m up and running! Last time I was reloading I concentrated of .300bo and .308 because .223 was comparatively cheap........times have changed!!!

I made up some gas checks with my new dies I waited 11 months for. I loaded up some MP-Molds .311-410 Small HP's 129.1.gr .817" Powder Coated & Gas checked. Loaded in converted WIN 5.56 Brass 1.603" 30gr H20 capacity. Using W296 ladder loads 19.6gr to 21.1gr.

Got out to my new shooting spot I have access to (124acres in Meriwether Co). Pretty nice that it's only 28min from my place. I'm a member down at East Alabama Gun Club and Love the place (and all of the free brass), but not the 1:40 drive!

They might seem like so so groups, but this is only @50yd. These were my first High velocity gas checked rifle loads I've ever done.. I'm incredibly stoked on the velocity numbers, but I'm thinking that I need to take more time when casting, sizing/seating gas checks, and seating the bullets. A lot of the HPs got all sorts of F`ed up and I'm fairly positive it was detrimental to consistent accuracy.

I'm gonna spend the week making up some beautiful boolits and try to carefully finish and load them. Crazy thing is the mould came with a top punch for a lube sizer which I don't have.. But right as I was about done loading I realized the top punch fits my Lyman T-Mag II ram perfectly, but won't fit in my RCBS RCIV. So I'll most certainly be using that to preserve the HPs. I've also got 4 other .30cal moulds to try and all sorts of very nice fancy factory stuff. Pretty stoked on all of it, not so much on what Ole` Joe had to say today.

Really awesome start with gas checks. I’ve pondered trying to cast for my .308 and I’d have to get gas checks to push them harder and likely powder coat them. Still a plenty accurate hunting round at shorter ranges that I’m sure you’ll dial in with some TLC. Looking forward to an update down the road. I have both my old man’s .308 and got a .308 upper for my AR-10 lower a week or so back so, well... it may be something in my near future.

I wiped down and bagged all the .223 I made last week and now have another batch of brass I processed over the weekend. Time to load those babies up! Processing once fired .223 is so time consuming, it’s always satisfying to finally get to the point of loading them. I took my other batch and put 50 rounds in each heavy duty bag so I know how much ammo I have. Getting more efficient as I get back into reloading.

I processed(fully) 300 rounds of .308 last year....damn near killed me!!!
primer pockets....flash holes...trim....Jesus....BUT....they are now sealed up(vacuum sealer), and ready for what ever I desire to put in them!!!
300 doesn't sound like a lot, until your doing the work!!!
