Looks like an abscess. Seen a few deer with them just under the hide before, never seen it in the chest cavity like that.

Yep, the only times I’ve seen green inside or coming out of a deer is from an infection.
usually from an injury of some sort.

always keep some gloves in your pack but I know….sometimes we forget to add that to our inventory.

I always keep them in my pack, it's nice if water isn't close by. When I get done field dressing my hands are still clean and the deer is 30 pounds lighter.

oh yeah , the nearby creek is a true blessing.
Amazing how easy a deer is to drag with the guts out.

I shot one years ago with similar green puss coming out of it… I asked my processor about it and he recommended not to eat it… didn’t know what it was and he said he had only seen a few like that before.
