What’s your go to flies for bass and bluegills?

For bass I like a cone head zonker or bunny fly. I use some of the saltwater flies as well. Pan fish I like a crackleback, cricket or grasshopper fly. That top water is fun.

Bett's poppers all day long for Bluegill. Change size, color and design until you find what's turning them on that day. Too big and too noisy on the pick up are common mistakes. Trim back the rubber legs a good bit. If you don't, small ones will grab the legs and drag the fly under.

Gentle landings and leave them sit for a while, then maybe a couple of very small twitches. Unlike top-water for other species, do not wait to feel the strike. As soon as you see it, set the hook. You'll learn to tell the difference between a small one messing with it and a legit strike. Size of the strike is not always a good indicator. If it looks like a small strike, but you hear a good "thunk" with it, that's actually a big Bluegill that just sucked the fly under. Set the hook!
