Weird History: Imagine Living back Many Years ago…In an Ancient World!

Yep --- boot camp bainbridge Maryland ---
during wwii and later many ships still had a trough of running sea water with toilet seats on top ---
How deep were these troughs? I need to know, could an unusually larger passersby turd actually bump into you on its way out to sea?

One of the last excavated arenas I remember visiting had those open toilets along the aisles leading into the seating area. You walked by all your neighbors doing their business as you entered or exited the games.

@ mattp38 -- tough depth ?
I don't have personal experience but I have never heard of a fellow getting his danglies wet -- at least in a calm sea ---
I expect the head - trough - was about 15 to 18 inches deep with a couple inches of water -- right over the side, at least at sea ---

Sort of provides a variation on the texas/alaska story -
Two fellows setting side by side on the head,
texan says "water is a mite cold",
alaskan answers " Yep, deep too" -----

****ter stick was bad, but imagine the slave that was the plunger boy, that narrow gap in the front was for his toes to stick out while his heel plunged it all down.
