ODT,
I’ve been seeing a lot of these BCM gunfighter type angled vertical grips on pistols. Did I miss something? Can these type of grips legally be placed on these pistols? I would not enjoy going to my local range with one of these boomsticks and getting escorted in handcuffs.

Angled is not vertical. Angled is fine, vertical is not. ATF logic...

I like the AFGs better anyway.

The Kag grip from BCM is up there on my list for grips as well.
Haven't seen that one. I dig the pistol grip on the top one in my posted pic better than the Magpul grips I have . Can't even recall the brand but its the same folks that make that goofy looking Sopmod stock. Maybe it's B5 Systems or something like that.

From what I've heard, a gun that would otherwise be a "large format pistol" becomes a "firearm" (catch all legal term for any firearm which doesn't meet the legal definition of a pistol, rifle, shotgun, or any-other-weapon; the popular shockwave style 'shotguns' are an example of this) with the addition of a vertical foregrip so long as the overall length is 26" or greater (and that OAL is measured with a collapsible stock all the way collapsed). If the "large format pistol" has an overall length of less than 26" then adding a vertical foregrip makes it into an unregistered any-other-weapon.

TL;DR: AR pistol with >26" OAL + vertical foregrip = 'firearm' IE legal
AR pistol with <26" OAL + vertical foregrip = unregistered any-other-weapon IE illegal

Again, that's just what I've heard. I'm not a lawyer.
