US Service Rifle 1903 - 1903A3 Discussion/ Pic Thread....

I just looked at the ad in your post and realized it was the "ye old hunter" - At the foot of king street in alex va. In about 1963 I bought a 7mm rem rolling block there for $4.95 and a 100 rounds of ammo for $1 ---- some of it actually fired ok -
The rem was guaranteed to have pancho villas finger prints on it.
That store, 200 union st. used to be a coal yard -- The whole area has now been gentrified --

My Springfield 03. Complete with Elmer Keith's cartouche marking on stock.

This is going to kill you...
I have a Springfield 1903, made just after the heat treat issues resolved. I bought it from my late Uncle, who sporterized it in the 60's. It has a beautiful stock.
My Dad, who is in his late 70's, still hunts with his Remington 1903A4, that he sporterized in the '
60's. I think it has 2 groove barrel. Both rifles have killed plenty of deer, and neither are retired.
At the time, a $20 dollar rifle was begging to be customized.
I am an enthusiast of military firearms, and have several. I would love to have an original 1903, and would not sporterize one now if I had one. But my sporterized 1903 will never be sold or traded.
