AF fly-off - YF-16 vs YF-17.
AF chose -16 because, even though it only has 1 engine, it's same engine as the F-15. Simplifies logistics.

Navy later took the F-18 (F/A-18), as 2 engines proves more survivable, when one goes out. (Which is why the F-16 is sometimes, disparagingly, referred to as the flying lawn dart.)
