There have been a few threads about .22 1911's, and messing around in the backyard tonight made me want to review my toy.

Kimber 22 conversion
15 rd mags (yes the 10 rd mags are easily converted to 15 rds!!)
barrel extension and threaded to 1/2x28
Taurus PT1911 Al frame
TechWell Al grips and magwell
AAC Pilot can

This setup eats it all! Cycles subs too. Entire rig w/ full 15rd mag comes in at 31.46oz (and the can is a little leaded up!). Super quiet. Trigger breaks at 2.5lbs. 15 rd mags give you a leg up in 22 shoots. Takes less than 1 minute to install on any gov. frame and takes down in the same; also switches easily back to 45. Drawbacks: no slide lock on last rd, the aluminum frame tends to foul up quicker w/ lube (Enos' slide guide works best and gums up slowest) than steel frame. Groups - well that is entirely shooter specific, but it will hold with any target 22 (I am comparing to my 6" Buckmark) and I get 1-2" groups at 15yds.

I can without hesitation give Kimber conversions very high marks!

I have 15 round mags that will hold the bolt open.....:p

Only problem is they are $40 ea instead of $25.

Great review of your Kimber conversion.
