Trying a new chili

Trying this new chili recipe for the neighborhood chili cook off. Using 85/15 burger (wanted to use venison but not sure about neighbors), once it hits 150deg crumble it into chili then smoke for another 2hrs. Sounds good, we’ll see!

Ya not great, meat was good but tasted more like spaghetti sauce than chili. Next one will be my chili recipe but doing the meat the same with a little more spice. Lady who won had a white chicken chili that was awesome. Not a big white chili guy but this was good!
 
Not an expert but …

The only way I tend to get chili “right” is when I cook the meat, onions, and seasoning together pretty thoroughly into a kind of paste before I start adding additional ingredients.
