I’ve just always used a pick.
A 6” deep trench ain’t nothing with a pick.
I’ve done 150’ water line 36” deep for a well.
Dug out the trench for an underground propane tank then dig a 30’ trench for the gas line to the house.
Dug a 100’ trench for underground electric line.
It ain’t too bad if you have a strong back for a 6” trench.
I was a ditch diggin ho that summer...lol.
Not to mention the contractor didn’t bring the gravel for my french drain quick enough and the rain cause kd the whole french drain in front of the house to cave it.
I dug it all out by hand....what a mofo that was.
