I had a fine Garrett and brought it up to Jersey to work the beach my sister lives on.
She had so much fun with it I left it there.

Few yrs ago two of our hunting camp members brought their kids. Well they had one of the metal detectors, I had some one dollar coins in the ashtray from the car wash...I buried 3 in the ground around my Polaris ranger..I guess the girls were maybe Aprils age..I told the dad what I had done, and when they found them, you could hear them holler for a mile away I bet..Best two bucks I ever spent.

Sometimes the best rewards in life, are making fond lasting memories for the good kids...AW that just about made me puke...Nah not really, I love watching their eyes light up..Wish it happened more when I was a kid..It's not about the cost, it's about the adventure..
Can you adjust the length on these? If so how low would it go. I'm wanting to pick one up for my daughter and she's 8 so I don't want it to be something that would be too long for her to use.
Yes the length of the shaft is adjustable. It only takes seconds to adjust it. You can make it short enough for an 8 year old to metal detect with.
Well I ended up going with a Garret ace 300. It was only $30 more than the 250. I can't wait to get her out detecting!
