Found one !

Alright
I'm looking for a transfer case for my Chevy K-10 project
Can't find the right one , already driven over 60 miles twice to look buy one that the seller swore was what I was looking for

I need a NP-208 from a 85-87 K-10 with the TH-400 auto trans or the 4 speed manual

Or the NP-241c from a 85-91 K-5 Blazer or Burb with the TH 400 or 4 speed manual

The TH-700 4 speed automatic will not work

The one I need must have 32 spline input shaft
Which came with TH 400 or 4 speed manual

This is the problem,
Apparently sellers, one private and one at a business can't count the difference between 27 splines and 32 splines

Public school graduates I guess

Try this - a junkyard database:

http://www.car-part.com/

Tried that
Theres several , all 500 miles away
And none of the 7 that I called to check on it and verify that it had 32 spline input shaft have bothered to call me back

"lemme get your number , I will go out and count , and call you back "

I mean , if you're too F'n lazy to do that just say so and hang up.

Edited to add:

I did get one call back after I called them twice
"it's hard to tell for sure since its sitting in the mud , looks like 29 or maybe 31 "

Think I will pass on one that's been sitting in the mud

Thanks

I actually picked up one this afternoon from a guy in Dallas

He has tons of Chevy truck parts
He had 3 of the 32 spline transfer cases
And was very knowledgeable

Although he learned something new
Cause he didn't believe me when I told him a NP208 from a 85 TH-400 would bolt up to a 5 speed manual from a 2006 that I brought with me to double check the fit

I looked

All were $500+
And shipping

Not a chance I'm gonna pay $600 for a $250 part that the seller is too stupid to count all the way up to 32
So I have no way of knowing if it's gonna fit or not till I fork over $600 and wait for it to arrive

Found one local in Paulding County yesterday
If any of yall need 73-87 4WD Chevy parts I can PM you his number , guy has a barn full of stuff and sets up axle gears etc
Took my trans with me to make sure it fit

Got a low mileage NP208 from behind a TH -400
A drive shaft and crossmember for $300

Not a steal, but fair enough for me

Just in time for it to be too cold for me to work outside

We added fuel injection
Baby cranked right up this AM at 20*

Fixing to swap in the 5 speed
And hopefully A/C before next summer

Maybe paint too

Kid is wanting stacks on it like the 80s Dodge Lil red express trucks

I'm kinda on the fence with that
I think it looks goofy. But hey , it's his truck , he earned it and if he wants to hillbilly it up with his own money
Who am I to say he can't ?

I'm helping fund the mechanical and driveabliity improvements because he met some education goals
We told him we'd supply up to $4000 twards a vehicle if he was fluent in a foreign language when he turned 16
He worked hard doing that and we're proud of him
We Figured it was totally worth a $4K reward

The cosmetic stuff is on his dime

He has a couple of random part time gigs that are not regular but pay extremely well

He grooms some softball fields using their equipment @ $30 a pop
Delivers and sets up wedding decorations @ $130 a day and is the substitute sunday custodian at a large chirch and conference center, first one there at 7 AM turns on all the lights & hvac -makes 300 cups of coffee , keeps the restrooms clean between services etc , last one to leave at 9PM , earns $200 for a 14 hour day

so some months he earns $400-500 and some months there's no work
