The isolated measures of price fixing fail to attain the ends sought. In fact, they produce effects contrary to those aimed at by the government. If the government, in order to eliminate these inexorable and unwelcome consequences, pursues its course further and further, it finally transforms the system of capitalism and free enterprise into socialism.
Ludwig von Mises

You know, I have a good argument typed out in response... but its just not worth it... I will say however, that I personally, haven't seen a single person ask for price controls, or limits to be set by ODT or anyone. So I feel like your quote in the OP, is an answer to a question that nobody was asking... or a refutation to a point that nobody has made...

They sublimate their hatred into a philosophy, the philosophy of anti-capitalism, in order to render inaudible the inner voice that tells them that their failure is entirely their own fault. Their fanaticism in defending their critique of capitalism is precisely due to the fact that they are fighting their own awareness of its falsity.

I am not gonna call anyone any names, or curse, or be rude in any way...

I know the argument is "just ignore the bad deals"...

The problem is that those types of deals are the new normal. Not in the market at large. HERE.

A lot of folks are lamenting that this place isn't what it used to be. Used to be a place for good deals and camaraderie... Now it's seen as CraigsList for guns, and people seem to be quite polarized on that topic. People feel like the folks that they used to see as some sort of "brothers in the community", are being opportunistic and trying to gouge them.

Everyone seems to think that we are arguing about prices, or whether people should be allowed to charge whatever they want...

I don't think that has ever been about that, for 98% of the folks here. It's about the perception, real or not, that this place has just gone seriously down hill and turned into Craigslist or GunBroker...

Some of us paid for memberships... and are probably wondering, I signed up and paid for THIS? People used to laugh at AO prices and loved that they could come here for "the real deals"... But now... In what world can you go to AO and save HUNDREDS of dollars? lol

I don't think that these questions or concerns, even if they go unlistened to and are dismissed out of hand as "whining", are without merit or reason.

I understand that they get repetitive... And I get that likely, nothing will change as a result of them. I myself don't start any more threads on this topic... But so many others do, and the sheer volume of them should be an indication that something is amiss...?

A lot your points are Spot on.. some people dictate what you post and what your allowed to sell.. therefore a lot folks won’t be renewing their memberships till things change for the better.. prices go up and down that..but somethings will never change

Yet the solution is simple. If you don't like someone's price, you can move along and forget about it forever. If you list a BNIB G19 for $150, there may be a guy who decides your price is way too high. Does his argument have merit? Slippery slopes and all...Anyone can ask any price for their property. People have listed and sold hair clippings on ebay for $1k. The market decides, ultimately, as it should be.
