I lost interest in them at around $400.
The price of AKs skyrocketed when cmshoot spilled the beans that a simple coating on the BCG could shut down an AR. That was the day I realized that an AK was like that girlfriend most of us have had at some point (and I'm sure some still do) - she ain't the prettiest, tightest, tamest one of the bunch but she'll do the stuff the other girls won't!

But those Syrian and Iraqi rifles would be all dirty and smelly.I could get pretty much any (select fire) variant of AK from any country of manufacture for $300-$500 in Syria. Slightly cheaper in Iraq.....
This is certainly a US market only problem.
