I looked to transfer out to CO previously. My biggest concern was cost of living. I thought I would be okay with having a smaller house and a tiny lot because the state has so much beautiful public land. Even with a raise, it wouldn't offset the difference. I prefer much of the West over Georgia, but there's nowhere economically booming more than the South. Well, if you exclude the ganja sales.

I was there working in the Tech Center area the winter of 2010-11, several snowfalls of 6" plus, what was disturbing to me is that NOBODY plows the snow. Parking lots are a major hazard. I am talking about McDonalds, Chili's, Red Robin. Snow turns to slush during the day, then freezes overnight and becomes icy, uneven, ankle-turning/breaking obstacle courses. Doubly worse for an overweight old bastard like me.
Sounds like a challenge!
