The legality of gun flippers

HALL MONITOR ALERT!!!! (You know who you are good Sir)

I need a ruling. I traded a gun earlier today. (You have probably already added it to your list) I assume you already know this, but please make note that I lost $13.72 on this deal in your ledger.

Can I credit that towards my next gun gouging/flip or does it not carry over?
ODT can institute a tax for every sail, that goes into a "community fund", and if you lose money on your cell you can file for reimbursement from the community fund at the end of the year. That way you can feel good about yourself and always give someone a deal. /sarcasm

And we can tax the highest traders a higher percentage, so that they can pay their fair share, and then give it all to the poors...

Something about this seems familiar... I feel a presence that I have not felt since....

Continuing a discussion from a "Deals and Steals" post I made...

Several peeps, myself included, made mention of the flippers who buy up guns cheap and sell them here at big markups. Some even going to dealers like GA Gun Store, to buy good deals as the continue to have, and then list them here the same day...

My question, is why is this allowed? At some point, you can't claim to just be a fickle enthusiast, when you are doing a dozen or more deals a week... especially if you are filling out 4473's and then putting them up for sale here within 24 hours?

I asked the question, why not report those people that are clearly skirting the laws and using this forum to be an unlicensed dealer? I was met with some opposition to that notion, despite me being on the fence about it and just thinking out loud...

If we ban people for making a gay joke, or cursing, or calling someone out... why would we tolerate what is most likely illegal activity? I made the point that if we don't clean the place up ourselves, at some point some agency will, and their cleanup will be a lot more painful to the rest of us than if we did it ourselves.

Thoughts on that? Is it just the "cost of doing business" and we live with it? Is there a limit or threshold where we as a group would consider it a problem and take action?

Genuine conversation. Discuss.

Do you Drive the speed limit, buy weed, or build a deck without a building permit or break any law you don’t think is necessary? No one should have to pay the government for the right to buy and sell something.

Hell, I have a great candidate for treasurer! That is if he isn’t overwhelmed with ODT NARC duties.

Why do you think I started this thread, in the Pasture? I knew that nobody would take it seriously, it would be riddled with arguing, some banter, etc...

My guess... jealousy, afraid you can't effectively add to the 136 deals completed in about 5 years of membership. Guess the well is dry and you hate others unloading part of their collections at a potential profit when maybe you didn't. After all, many of us have collected and traded when prices were dropping like a rock during the pre-COVID timeframe, and no one tried to stop us from losing any money. So, SirCriesALot, what say you?

Obey the speed limit? Not when riding, usually when driving. Buy or smoke weed? Nah, I barely even drink any more but I think making a plant illegal is retarded... I get permits for structures so that I don't get dinged later if I have to put in an insurance claim and have them put the blame on me and force me to eat the cost...

Jealousy? Nah, that's how your mind works, hence why it occurred to you. watching people get duped into buying $900 Glocks urks me the same way when some jackoff gas station owner raises his prices to $9 a gallon when he doesn't have to...

Suffice to say, if I proposed a law to end child pornography, and 6 of you immediately jumped up and screamed about how stupid and dumb that was and listed reasons why we shouldn't do that... It would... or at least SHOULD raise a few eyebrows...

This is no different. I asked a legal question and tied it in to the crazy listings we all know and love, and it clearly made some people uncomfortable... I know there is nothing we can do about it and that it isn't practical to even try unless its really obvious and over the top. But then again, that was never really the goal here.

Its a temperature check, a test in a way, and some of you failed in my opinion.

No biggie, get on with whatever you are doing. You think I am an idiot so why would anything I say, matter to you? If you expect me to just shut up and move along when I see a stupidly priced listing, perhaps some of you fine chaps could heed your own advice and do the same here?
