Sweet pistol case idea

Got my foam today and carved some up. It worked out great. I spray glued a layer of egg crate, which is 1.5", on the lid. then I cut 4 pieces of 1" foam for the bottom compartment, cutting out the second and fourth layers from the bottom. I will spray glue each cut out piece to the solid layer beneath it to keep the thinner parts of the cut out from buckling & distorting, but I still have to carve out a spot for the 22/45 Lite that I don't have yet.

I've done a few rifle case foam cut outs using an electric carving knife, but that doesn't work so well for the shorter, tighter pistol cuts. So I just used a sharp box knife blade. It's not ideal, the cuts are definitely a little sloppy. I'm going to get a hot knife to do more in the future.

Also added the custom ODT badging on the outside just to give it some class.

Thanks George P. Burdell , this was an excellent idea.

Also, my 3 year old now has some favorite new toys. A foam 1911, SR22 and HK P30. He's pew pew pew all over the "bad guys" now.

Did any of you have any leftover foam? Thinking about trying my luck, but kinda confused as to what kind of foam would be best.

If you're on the west side of town, I'd buy what you had left.

Or, if you'd be so kind, send me the info on what foam you used.

I had foam left over, so I made two more case and gave them to my brother and dad.

See posts #58 & #62 1.5" egg crate charcoal foam for the lid and 4 layers of 1" charcoal foam for the center compartment is a perfect snug fit for 4 full size pistols.
