Ask yourself this: If you couldn't buy some for a few months, what things would you most hate doing without?

Food, soap, dental hygiene, clothes, booze, ....

Buy any non-spoilable goods that you think you will need in the next 2, 3 years.

Federal Reserve is working on its own digital currency. USPS holds patent for block-chain technology. USD will become digital only, and Post Offices will become banks, just like they were in USSR. Paper USD will go away. We will resort to bartering for goods and services.


Agree 100% We will become either Chinese or Russian colony soon. Russia has been working on becoming self-sufficient since they were sanctioned.

Wonder what will happen to funds in bank accounts? Will cash remain relevant person to person? Would one be wise to keep a little cash on hand?

In USSR funds in the banks were frozen for 10 years, IIRC. Gov. used them to pay its bills. They were releeases eventually, over a course of sevetal years. Did not amount to much by then, due to double digit inflation.

In Cyprus several years ago funds were seized, safe deposit boxes were opened. Anything of value was replaced with IOUs.

Look at what is happening in Lebannon now. It is a precursor of what will happen in US.
