Super Speeder Question

A friend got a ticket for 74 in a 45 zone last month. Had court yesterday. No lawyer; he just wanted to get a fair plea offer from the Solicitor. (He had to come to court in person; they would not accept a guilty plea by mail with a payment sent ahead of court date.)

Not quite a super-speeder offense, but still pretty big as far as speeding goes.

He also had a clean 7-year MVR. His last recorded ticket was 20-something years ago.

RESULT: Nolo plea, Reduction to 14 mph over limit, no points on license, should have no impact on his insurance rates.
$400 fine. No defensive driving, no probation, nothing else. Just the fine, and done.

His ticket was a super speeder offense, got it knocked down from four points to zero so good for him. He had about the same outcome as me, except I did not have to go to court. My fine was actually higher which is surprising

Radar detectors don’t do anything with instant on radars which your detector will go off and you’ll see blue lights.
Most police outfits are using the dragon eye gun..which in laser diffuser terms , the one that most laser diffusers can’t defeat .
There’s only one or maybe two laser diffusers that will defeat the dragon eye so be careful if you have outdated systems.

Curious what 20 MPH over in Roswell will get you.
Got nailed yesterday traveling with the pack….court date pending.
65 in a 45.
Everyone was in right lane getting around some super slower driving 10miles under the speed limit in the effing left lane for 2 miles.

Was stupid/unlucky the other day and got a super speeder in Worth County near Sylvester, GA for going 83 in a 55. It was a middle of nowhere on a 2 Lane Rd. The sheriffs office said that it'll cost around $450 plus the $200 Georgia state fee. Wondering if it is worth it to get a lawyer and try and find it, or just pay the fee. Got stopped 3 hrs from where I live, so physically going in to court is a bit far fetched, but wanted to see if anyone has had similar circumstances with any input. The cop had minor errors on the date on the ticket, and I had him calibrate the radar. He got me while driving in the opposite direction on the 2 lane road. I haven't gotten any super speeders before, and haven't had a ticket since December of 2018, which was for 14 over, but that isn't on my driving record/ I have no points on my license. Should I get a lawyer, is it worth the trouble, how much is a lawyer for something like this, and does anyone have any input?

Your insurance is where it will hurt the most. I know the brains of the odt are saying to pay it, but If you can afford to pay an attorney to not have a super speeder on your record-- you should. And you still might have to pay a fine. A super speeder on your record is basically 1 step under a dui in insurance agency eyes.

get your ticket and look up the Georgia citation code that he issued, and you will see what a super speeder would be in that area/zone you were in

AL Priority.

Escort has one but it’s not as good as the AL and they don’t offer updates near enough. Plus their system costs more
