Hey Folks,

I live near Allatoona and was curious if there was a filter that would make the lake water potable in a SHTF scenario? Have five kids so something that could process a decent amount of water before needing a filter change would be ideal.

Thanks!
Caleb

The Big Berkey is the mack daddy, put on your counter, and look nice filter. If you're looking for something for SHTF, then I'd consider the Sawyer Water Purifier Bucket Adapter System. They advertise it will do 170 gallons/day, and the filter is good for either 100,000 or 1,000,000 million gallons. Can't remember which, but it'll last a lot longer than a Big Berkey filter. https://sawyer.com/products/sawyer-point-zerotwo-bucket-purifier-assembly-kit/

If you want nice looking and intend to use every day on your counter top, then get the Big Berkey.
