Stock Market

You are correct sir - it is to take money from private investors and transfer it to the big banks, hedge funds, and Wall Street, in other words the big boys.
Not quite following your logic. Millions of private investors have become wealthy by investing in the market.

Now, millions of private investors have lost everything in the market as well. Those people, IMO, were greedy and always chasing the big score and lost. If you take a pragmatic approach to investing and adjust your risk tolerance to a level that is realistic to your ability to absorb losses, you'll make money in the market in the long run.

I was speaking in general terms - yes, it is easy to make currency in a 10 year bull market by simply investing in passive funds. I got out a few years ago when I thought the "market" was getting overvalued. Did I miss out on some gains? Yes. But at least I wasn't in when this **** hit the fan. The "market" needs a 50% correction IMO (1600-1700 on the S&P). At that point I might consider getting back in the casino.

My buddy bought $26,000 of a stock last week, he cashed out two days later at $168,000. Another friend bought $5,000 of PENN Gaming and cashed out at $12,000. I guess they also don't understand how your stock market theory works.

You can make money and you can lose money, simple enough.

I bought BAC after the financial crisis for $3 and sold at $17 a year or 2 later, so what?

Sounds like maybe it's just you who aren't very good at making money with the market. Seems everyone has done well and you're just, well bitter.
LOL, not quite. I've done very well, but I also know how the system works. And, with this downturn, my portfolio has hit an all-time high instead of tanking like most people's accounts who stayed in.
