I'm an ancient many people would think (over 70). Used to be that you could take a Craftsman tool that was broken in to them and get a free replacement - no charge. Does that policy still exist? More importantly, is there any SEARS place you could take one in for replacement if it was broken?

Lowe's and pretty sure ACE Hardware carry craftsman tools now

Loving this thread. Thank, OP.

Just bought a couple of these...

Lowes and HD have a number of small tools that are made in the US now. Stanley makes some stuff in the US but much in china so you have to look at packaging. That actually wasn't the case 10yrs ago so some things have gotten better. Estwing mentioned a few times. Been using them for 30yrs, lol.

Empire Tools. I don't know if all there stuff is USA but a lot is. (levels, squares, straight edges, etc)

Akro-Mills stacking storage tubs, made in Ohio. I have many of these for general storage and gear transport; some are 25+ years old and are still going. They cost a little more than the junk you find at most office stores, but they're much better quality and thicker plastic. The thinner "keep boxes" cost about the same as chinese junk, but last longer.
