Simple & inexpensive off-grid cabin anyone can build

I wonder if it would make sense to use the natural trees that you find on your own wooded property where your cabin is going to be built and saw them into rough-hewn lumber yourself. At least for all the boards, posts, wall studs, joists, etc. I suppose you'd still need to buy commercially manufactured plywood or OSB.

You can buy a portable sawmill to change tree trunks into lumber for $2200 imagine you use that for a few months during your cabin build project and then clean it up and sell it.
You could probably sell it used for $1500, thus you'd only be out of pocket $700 for the rental of this machine.

(Or, save the box and papers, and sell here on ODT as "almost new",
with a "low log count" for $2800, making you a $600 profit,
and you got to use the machine free to supply the wood for your cabin build!)
