I think those saying make your house/area look uninviting is the best first step. Second to that is be harder to rob than the guy next door. I don't think any of this works in the suburbs without a group of people.

I've thought it through. Just me defending my house will work well until
1) I need to sleep or poop
2) the find out about the back of the house. I have a wife and 2 young kids. That's it. Not enough manpower.

but if I got our neighborhood on board? shoot, I'd have:
a security force
a way to drop a few trees and make the whole place inaccessible
pool water
common club house for cooking/health care
MILFs. Always helpful

All good suggestions. I think the most important thing would be is to post a map of the area with those homes/domiciles where the owners are anti-gun nuts. Make it easier for the perps before they even get into your neighborhood....
