Interesting- These folks seem to think that a larger projectile which stays more stable after striking an object may actually ricochet worse than a 30-06 or similar rifle round (which would disperse more energy and become de-stabilized faster.)

Yep-

Me neither, but maybe if they are less prone to tumble and lose energy, they could go ahead and ricochet farther... Food for thought.
 
I realize this study was for the Army but I would like to see similar test with the Forrester type slug. I know they are like throwing pumpkins but they are still widely used. If one takes the time to experiment with his/her shotgun and different brands of ammo the Forrester types are very accurate.
